Park & Trail Advisory Committees

Get involved, share your skills and help shape Columbia County parks and trails by joining one of our advisory committees.

Provide advice and feedback to commissioners and staff on the development of the Crown Z Trail and a Masterplan for all of our parks.

Parks Advisory Committee

The Parks Advisory Committee reviews, advises, and makes recommendations to the Columbia County Board of Commissioners, and parks staff, on matters related to the county’s park and marine facilities. This includes long-range planning, development, design, and certain budget considerations. Committee members advocate to decision-makers and the public for park needs, participate in events, and assist in promoting parks facilities and activities.

Crown Z Trail Advisory Committee

The Crown Z Trail Advisory committee was re-formed in 2018 to focus on the development of the Crown Z Trail. The Committee advises the Columbia County Board of Commissioners and county staff on specific projects along the 23-mile route. The new committee is working on a variety of projects, including developing trailheads with signage, reviewing a Concept Plan developed in the 2000s, acquisition or right-of-way of part of the trail in Vernonia connecting to the Banks-Vernonia Trail, and the use of a former logging camp as an equestrian camp. The Crown Z Trail offers recreational opportunities for hikers, cyclists, and horseback riders.
