We provide safe, responsible, and economical recycling and disposal services, while respecting the environment and communities we serve.
The Solid Waste division organizes, funds programs and educates residents, schools and businesses about waste reduction, reuse, recycling and household hazardous waste management. The division facilitates the Solid Waste Advisory Committee; updates and is directed by regulatory activities outlined in the Solid Waste Management Plan and the Solid Waste Ordinance; owns and oversees the operations of the Columbia County Transfer Station; and administers solid waste collection services in unincorporated areas of the county.
The Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC) serves as a technical group that informs how the county manages solid waste disposal and recycling services. Committee members serve 3-year terms and provide input on solid waste policies, regulations, and programs, as well as the operation of the Columbia County Transfer Station. If you are interested in being on SWAC, view current opportunities and apply here and view SWAC meeting agendas and minutes here.
