Residential Garbage and Recycling Collection Services


Columbia County's two franchisee haulers or service providers are Hudson Garbage dba Waste Connections and WM for residential garbage and recycling collection services. Please contact your service provider about collection services. Their contact information can be found on this page.

Collection service reminders:

  • Place carts at the curb the night before or by 6am on the scheduled service day.
  • Place carts at least 3 feet away from any other cart and 6 feet from vehicles.

Holidays (Service providers do not collect on these holidays). If your service falls on or after a holiday, your service will be delayed by one day.

  • New Year's Day
  • Christmas Day

 Recycling accepted items (all recyclables must be clean, empty and dry):

  • Cartons: milk and juice
  • Cardboard: all corrugated cardboard - flattened
  • Paper: newspaper, paper bags, paperback books, magazines, catalogs, scrap paper, printer/copy paper, cereal boxes, junk mail, egg cartons.
  • Metal: aluminum, steel and tin cans, foil, scrap metal (metal cooking pots), empty paint cans, and empty aerosols.
  • Plastic: bottles, jugs, yogurt tubs (6 oz. or larger), buckets (5 gal. or smaller), rigid plant pots (4 inch or larger).

  • Brush, lawn clippings, leaves, plant trimming/pruning, sawdust

Yard debris unaccepted items:

  • Bricks, dirt, food waste, gravel, metal, paper, plastic, rocks
