Recycling Drop-off Locations


Free residential recycling drop-off locations are located in St. Helens, Clatskanie, Rainier and Vernonia. See the list below for the accepted items. It is important that you do not bag your recyclables. Place loose recyclables in designated containers.

All recyclable items must be:

  • Empty, clean and dry. No food or liquid residue.
  • Larger than 2 inches by 2 inches
  • Caps OK if they screw on
  • NO bagged recyclables

Columbia County Transfer Station Recycling Center

Location: 1601 Railroad Ave., St. Helens, OR 97051 

Hours: Monday-Saturday 8am - 5pm

Accepted items:

  • Cartons: milk and juice
  • Cardboard: all corrugated cardboard - flattened
  • Paper: newspaper, paper bags, paperback books, magazines, catalogs, scrap paper, printer/copy paper, cereal boxes, junk mail, egg cartons.
  • Metal: aluminum, steel and tin cans, foil, scrap metal (metal cooking pots), empty paint cans, and aerosols. Appliances: metal dishwashers, water heaters, clothes washers and dryers, stoves only.
  • Plastic: bottles, jugs, yogurt tubs, buckets, rigid plant pots.
  • Glass: bottles and jars

Unaccepted items:

  • Glass: windows, dishware, cookware, porcelain or ceramics
  • Plastic bags or stretchy plastics: bread bags, newspaper bags, produce bags, dry cleaning bags, air pillows, case wrap, bubble wrap (drop off at select locations - Plastic Bag and Film Recycling.org)
  • No cords, wires, hoses

Clatskanie Recycling Depot

Location: NE 5th St., Clatskanie, OR 97016 

Hours: Monday-Sunday 8am - 5pm

Accepted items:

Location: the parking lot next to 690 West A St, Rainier, OR 97048 

Hours: Monday-Sunday 8am - 5pm

Accepted items:

  • Glass: bottles and jars

Unaccepted items:

  • Glass: windows, dishware, cookware, porcelain or ceramics

Vernonia Transfer Station

Location: 701 California Avenue - Vernonia, OR 97064 

Hours: 8am - 2pm on 2nd and 4th Saturdays (January-October) and 1st and 3rd Saturdays (November-December)
