Volunteer Cleanup Program

The solid waste division sponsors and facilitates a volunteer litter cleanup program for residents looking to help keep their neighborhoods clean. Volunteers clean up roadways, waterway and other areas within the county that have litter. Common littered items are plastic wraps films, cups, food packaging, and more. We advised that you do not pick up medical sharps such as syringes, sharp items or heavy items. Please let us know of large dump sites with multiple bags of trash, tires, mattresses, etc. If they are on county property, county roads or county right-of-ways, we have a program called DumpStoppers to address those issues.

To participate in the volunteer cleanup program, follow these steps:

1. Fill out the volunteer registration form and email it to publicworks@columbiacountyor.gov or drop it off at 1054 Oregon Street St. Helens, OR 97051. The solid waste team will email you a letter stating your volunteer registration has been approved.

2. Once your registration has been approved, if you need cleanup supplies, fill out this cleanup supply form. Once you fill out the supply form, we will set up a date and time for you to pick up the supplies.

3. Each time you clean up a site, you will need to fill out this site check-in form.

4. Once you have full trash bags, email publicworks@columbiacountyor.gov to notify us when you want to bring the trash to the Columbia County Transfer Station at 1601 Railroad Ave., St. Helens, OR. The solid waste team will email you stating you can bring the trash to the transfer station and we will waive the tipping fee.
