Mattresses
Mattresses are bulky, expensive to get rid of and take up a lot of space in landfills. In 2025, Oregon began a mattress recycling program. Columbia County Solid Waste in partnership with the Mattress Recycling Council provides free mattress recycling events throughout the year at the Columbia County Transfer Station.

Accepted items:
- Mattresses, includes foam mattresses, and box springs that are stationary or adjustable. Any size or condition. 5 units maximum per Columbia County resident.
Unaccepted items:
- Mattress toppers or mattress pads, air mattresses, crib mattresses, waterbeds, futons, sofas, pullout couches and furniture.
