CURRENT ELECTION INFORMATION 

May 21, 2024 Oregon Primary Election

Important dates

April 30, 2024: Last day to Register to vote (new registrant) OR change party affiliation (existing voter)

May 1, 2024:  First day to mail ballots to county at large.

May 14, 2024: Public certification test of vote tally system (Columbia County Elections, 230 Strand St. St Helens, 10:30am)

May 16, 2024: Last day ballots will be mailed to voters. Ballots issued after this day will need to be picked up in person.

May 21, 2024:  Election Day.

Anticipated schedule for posting May 21, 2024, Oregon Primary Election Results.  All results unofficial until certification of election.  

May 21, 2024 (election Day)- 8:15pm, 11pm, and the last TBD (Unofficial Results at the end of counting for the day. Will be labeled COB for "close of business")

May 23, 2024- 5pm

May 30, 2024- 5pm 

June 6, 2024- 5pm 

June 13, 2024- 5pm 

June 17, 2024- Final Certified Results

County Candidates / General Information

Filed Candidates- as of Filing deadline 3/12/2024.

NOTES

A candidate for office will be elected at the primary election if the candidate receives a majority of the votes cast (at least 50% plus one vote).  If no candidate receives a majority of votes, the top two vote getters move forward to the general election.

County Treasurer will not be on the May 21 but will appear on the November ballot. Per Oregon constitution, certain offices (Treasurer, County Clerk and Sheriff) must be elected at the General Election.

Major Party Precinct Committee Persons (PCP)

Filed PCP Candidates- as of Filing deadline 3/12/2024.

Write-ins.  For a Precinct Committee Person to be elected by write in, a formal process is required to be followed that consists of the filing of a Write-in Declaration or a Write-in Nomination.  Write-in votes will only be tallied if declaration or nomination forms have been filed by the deadline.
