Columbia County Public Works has completed its review of employee reporting locations and daily operational procedures and has decided not to make changes to current employee reporting locations. Public Works will instead implement a programmatic approach to road maintenance while continuing to operate from its current shop configuration.
Employees will continue reporting under the existing structure. No changes are planned regarding employee reporting locations or the use of existing Public Works facilities. Employees will begin implementing a work plan that approaches the County’s road system as a whole, rather than responding solely to work requests. The process will be evaluated and updated moving forward.
Earlier this year, Public Works evaluated the possibility of changes to where some employees would report at the start of their workday and how existing Public Works facilities would be utilized. As part of that process, department leadership met with employees, residents, and community members to hear concerns, answer questions, and better understand the potential impacts of any changes.
Throughout the review, Public Works considered employee input, community feedback, service delivery needs, and long-term operational considerations. The discussions helped staff better understand the concerns and priorities of both employees and the communities served by the department.
Public Works appreciates everyone who took the time to participate in the discussion. The willingness of community members and employees to share their perspectives helped ensure the review process was thoughtful, informed, and responsive.
Columbia County Public Works remains committed to maintaining county roads and infrastructure while providing reliable service to residents throughout the county.
