Solid Waste Curbside Collection Services ) PUBLICATION In Unincorporated Columbia County. )
1. The Board of County Commissioners will hold a hybrid public hearing on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at or after 10:00 a.m. at the John Gumm Building and Civic Center, 251 St. Helens Street, St. Helens, OR. To join the meeting virtually, please visit www.columbiacountyor.gov/meetings for login information.
2. The purpose of this hearing is to consider proposed rate adjustments for curbside garbage and recycling services for residents and businesses in rural Columbia County (i.e., outside city limits), effective July 1, 2025.
The Columbia County Solid Waste Advisory Committee is recommending that the Board adopt a 3.5% rate increase for rural Clatskanie, rural St. Helens, and rural Rainier. These areas are serviced by Waste Connections, doing business as Hudson Garbage Service, with a 5.9% rate increase in rural Scappoose and rural Vernonia. Waste Management services these areas. Staff recommends that the Board set the proposed rate adjustments for review at a public hearing on June 18, 2025, after providing the required public notice, with the rate increases to take effect on July 1, 2025.
3. This is a public hearing. Interested parties may appear and be heard. Columbia County does not discriminate based on disability and will provide reasonable accommodations in accordance with the County's Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Policy.
